Founded by Noah Thomas and Kelly Michaelis in 2003, Beautiful Bird consists of a series of musical projects linking visual media with experimental soundscapes. The name 'Beautiful Bird' is a metaphor for the creative process that we try to embody. In our music and various media arts, we seek to create sonic and visual textures reflecting the unexpected appearance of nature in the midst of an urban environment.
Beautiful Bird combines instrumental soundscapes with lyrical statements addressing the relationship of urban life within the diversity of the natural world, integrating multi-instrumental compositions with electronic music and samples often set to a backdrop of cinematic depictions of nature at macro and micro scales.
